Repair Loose Baffles in Your Dryer Tumbler

Do you hear clanking noises coming from inside of your dryer tumbler? It may be time to replace the dryer baffles. Here is how to check and go about repairing them if needed.

Steps

  1. Check the inside of the dryer for loose baffles. If you see that the noises are coming from a loose baffle or from coins inside of the baffles, you will need to loosen the screws in the baffles and remove coins or install any missing holding screws.
  2. Look closely. This is a picture of a loose baffle. The arrow points to the location that the back end of the baffle should be on.
  3. Get to the loose baffle. To take care of a loose baffle, you will need to lift the top panel of the dryer.
  4. Check for loose screws. See if you are missing any screws to the tumbler baffles.
  5. Loosen the screws to remove any coins or to install new screws on the baffles that are missing screws.
  6. Place tumbler baffle back in secure position. Screw the tumbler baffle securely back into the proper position.
  7. You're done! This do-it-yourself easy repair will save you from $60 to $80, plus the dryer will run with less noise.
