Schedule a Post on Blogger
If you use Blogspot or Blogger to blog, you may have wondered if there is a way to schedule when your posts are published, especially when you want to head off for a few well earned days of holiday season rest. There is a very easy way to do this, following the steps outlined below.
Steps
- Write your post normally. Then, do the following steps before hitting "Publish".
- Click the "Post Options" link above the Publish button. This will allow you to change the options for reader comments, HTML settings, and publish scheduling.
- Change the "Post date and time" option to "Scheduled at".
- Change the date and time to your desired post time.
- Press "Publish post". At this point, your blog post will go into a queue and will not appear until the scheduled date and time. You can add as many blog posts to the queue as wished.
- Keep tabs on your scheduling. You can rely on the Blogger list itself (scheduled posts are clearly shown, see image example) so that you know which blog posts are coming up and which have already been published. If you need to update anything before it is scheduled to appear, you'll be able to locate it quickly and make changes.
- If you're scheduling because you're going away, it is helpful to alert your readers to the fact that you're scheduling for holiday reasons in case they wonder why you're not responding to their comments.
Tips
- Scheduled posts can be amended any time before appearing. In addition, if you change your mind about when the blog post is to appear, you can either move the date and time, or put the post back into your drafts folder.
- When scheduling posts, be sure to keep in mind your blog's theme, and maintain a regularity that is sensitive to your reader's needs. Avoid overwhelming them with a sudden rush of extra posts, or leaving it too long between posts, or you might risk losing readers while you're away.
Warnings
- Telling blog readers that you'll be away from your house can create a risk if people are aware where you live; if so, tell them the house sitter won't be answering blog comments for you!
