Select Text With Gimp

Have you ever wanted to select text with GIMP so you can make gradient text or add patterns?

Steps

  1. Open the GIMP and make a new document.
  2. Press the A on the GIMP toolbox. This will open the text tool option.
  3. On your document click the space where you would like your text to be at and type out what you would like your text to be.
  4. In the toolbox at the bottom of the text tool option click "Path from text"
  5. Go to Select > From Path. Your text should now be selected.

Tips

  • Pull the gradient tool over the text to make gradient text.
  • You can right-click on the path you have just created in the path dialog and choose "stroke path" to create outlined text or other effects.
