Silence a Seatbelt Alarm

Seat belt alarms are installed in many new vehicles and they're liable to test your patience. We're all aware of the importance of wearing a seat belt when driving on public roads, but who wants to be constantly reminded to wear one when you are parked or otherwise on private land when it is not necessary? Or, maybe you have a heavy box in the front passenger seat that sets it off. Here is how to turn it off.

Steps

  1. Make sure that turning off the seat belt sounding device is legal in your jurisdiction. Also ensure that any method you use leaves you and your passenger's safety totally intact.
  2. Visit your automobile dealer or repair shop. The device used may be dependent on the model and type of car you own. Seek their advice.
  3. Look for a commercial device that turns off the sound. There are commercially available devices that can be plugged into the seat belt buckle, that instantly shut off the chime off. Do an online search for one.

Warnings

  • Don't try to fiddle with it yourself unless you know what you're doing. The end result could be costly to repair if botched, or even compromise your safety.
  • Always wear a seat belt when driving, except for the rare, legally ordained exceptions. Check your jurisdiction's laws for more advice.
