Stencil on Fabric (Freezer Paper Method)
Stenciling is an easy, fun craft. Use it to spruce up a plain t-shirt or add something to a boring costume.
Steps
- Find a design online, and print it out on freezer paper (black and white ink works best).
- Use an x-acto knife to cut out the black part of the picture.
- Iron the stencil shiny side down onto the fabric in the area you want the image.
- Slide cardboard under the fabric to keep the paint from leaking to the other side of the item of clothing.
- Paint over the stencil in your chosen color. A minuscule amount of paint is sufficient; don't overload your brush.
- When paint is dry, peel off freezer paper.
- Clean up.
Tips
- Check paint packaging or manufacturer's website for specific instructions. Different brands and types of fabric and paint have different requirements.
Warnings
- Make sure all the corners of the stencil are ironed down.
