Stop Quickly on a Motorcycle

Stop quickly is easily referred to have an emergency brake.All motorcyclist sometimes will have to do emergency brake to avoid something unexpected on the path and avoid accident.

Steps

  1. Check on your brakes before riding and not to forget, your brake lamps.
  2. To stop quickly when riding, you have to use both front and rear brakes.
    • The front brake is one the right handle while the rear one is operated by the right foot pedal.
  3. In order to have a sudden stop when riding a motorcycle, you must apply harder brake to the rear wheel and less brake force on the front wheel.
    • In fact, you have to push the brake pedal on the right foot to the limit.
  4. You must not apply the front brake hardly as it will lead to the rear part of the motorcycle to be lifted from the ground and it is extremely dangerous to the rider.
  5. While braking, ensure that you never lose the rear brake until you stop fully.Losing the rear brakes will force the rear wheel to skid, which will lead to losing control of your motorcycle.
  6. In order to stop suddenly, you must use your left leg to land on the ground as the right one is used to hold the brake pedal.
  7. For the motorcycle that is operated by manual clutch, you will have to press the clutch that is situated on the left side of the handle. This will ensure that the engine is not forcing the motorcycle anymore thus the brakes can function optimally.

Tips

  • You might have to turn your motorcycle to the left a little bit while applying the brakes so that the weight of your motorcycle and you are focused on the left part of your body and on the left leg of yours.
  • when your motorcycle is turned away a little bit from the original motion, it will do greatly to the stopping.

Warnings

  • An emergency brake is safe to be done for speed of {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} and below.
  • It is highly dangerous to stop suddenly at a speed of over {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} and above.You will lose control of the handle and eventually fall off from the motorcycle.
  • So, observe your path you will be heading to throughout the journey. Slow down when you need and speed when you are sure that it is safe.
