Survive Infinity Mode in Dead Rising for Seven Days

Ever wonder how those people on Xbox Live rankings have those massive 14 day or even 20 day survival scores? Well, this article can help with getting that seven day survivor achievement for you.

Steps

  1. Go out the security door to Entrance Plaza. Go to Sinister Read and get the Health 2 book. Then find Paul and kill him, taking his food.
  2. Travel through Al Fresca Plaza, Food Court, and stop by Sir Books-a-lot in Wonderland Plaza for the Health 1 and Criminal Biography books. Then continue to North Plaza.
  3. Travel to the empty store next to Crislips and take the Survival book.
  4. Take a blade then head to Leisure Park and kill the three Halls for their food.
  5. Travel to Paradise Plaza and acquire the Engineering and Entertainment books (these will help later).
  6. Barricade yourself as much as you can in Jill's Sandwich Shop and wait out the whole virtual day. (In real time, this will last approximately two hours.)
  7. Get the orange juice in Jill's Sandwich Shop, which will hold Frank over for seven health bars with the three health books.
  8. Go and get the Sub-machine Gun from Paradise Plaza(above the cam shop--jump from the middle level of the stairs) at midnight of the following day.
  9. Walk to Wonderland Plaza and kill Adam. Take his chainsaws and any food he drops.
  10. Go to the Beautification Cosmetic Store (downstairs) and jump on top of it. You should find a grapefruit which you can eat later.
  11. Walk back to Paradise Plaza and take the OJ upstairs in Colombian Roast-masters then barricade yourself in Jill's Sandwich Shop again.
  12. Start searching the mall for food. The OJ and your other food will last you about two days.
  13. Start by going to Al Fresca Plaza where you will find 2 orange juices and 3 pies. Take all of the food and place it inside of the shoe stores for an easier barricade.
  14. Look around the benches in Leisure Park for snacks and cookies, once that food runs out.
  15. Go to the Food Court and take all the food to the 2nd floor. (Where Carlito was when you fight him the first time). You can get here by going into the area with the wooden tables and chairs and jumping onto the boxes, then jump again onto the second floor.
  16. Stay put and only eat when you have one health bar left, once all the food is up there.
  17. Go to Colby's Movie Land and get the food in the front behind the stands on the left, then go into each plaza and acquire all the food in each one, if your inventory gets full, make sure you just eat the weak food such as the snacks, cookies, or bread, so you can hold the better foods. Just stay in one of the Theater's and eat only when you need to.
  18. Make sure you use the mall's food only when you have one bar left and you should have survived around 5 to 7 days.

Tips

  • If you already have the zombie genocider achievement then you can get the real mega-buster from the security room and make things a lot easier, the mega-buster will kill survivors in one to two hits along with zombies!
  • 1 min game time = 5 sec in real time
  • Each bar drains one every 100 seconds.
  • An interesting alternative to barricading a shop, Go outside, towards the cover where you found the sniper family. Use the Zombie Ride skill, and with a little luck, you should be able to jump off a zombie and on top of the shelter, where no one can get to you. It is recommended you have a good supply of food, and maybe a sniper rifle or two, to cut down on the boredom.
  • Find some zombies carrying 'hunks of meat' aka arms, get two or three, and put them in an unreachable place for zombies, such as awnings, scaffolding, or behind enclosed counters. They will be too busy trying to get the out of reach food to care about you, even standing behind them. There is a small chance they may swing at you, but this can still be invaluable to surviving.
  • Barricades are crucial to survival, so always erect them when staying in a shop. Zombies can breakthrough some items so benches and stools are ideal, as are shopping carts.
  • Always get both two health books + one survival guide. There is a third health book that you may obtain. First book in Entrance Plaza inside "A Sinister Read" gives 50% boost. Second in Wonderland Plaza "Sir books a lot" second floor gives 50% boost. Third in North Plaza next door to Crislip's gives 100% boost.
  • Remember 7 days game time = 14 hours!
  • Infinity Mode is easier when your stats are maxed out at level 50.
  • If you have a T.V. that allows PIP (picture in picture) that would be a great feature to have so you would be able to monitor your game while bouncing back to the your T.V. if you get board. (I prefer split screen)
  • If you go to your 360 system setting I would suggest you turn on the option that would dim your screen when idle. (when you decide to just chill somewhere and not do anything in the game and wait)
    • It is highly recommended that you are level fifty and that you have received the zombie genocider achievement for the real mega blaster before attempting infinity mode!! It will be nearly impossible to achieve 5 days of survival and flat out impossible to achieve 7 days.
  • A maxed out health of 12 bars, will provide 20 minutes of life.
  • Get something to read to take the boredom away.
  • also, stock up on weapons around the mall, then go to the food court to build a barricade. the big chairs around the wine area works best.
  • With the right books, the Chainsaws will last you the entire game(if you don't go mindlessly killing zombies). Remember the chainsaws are for cutting paths through legions of zombies and for killing survivors.
  • I would suggest to use an energy star T.V. (this will save you a lot of money and prevent burns on the T.V. if you plan to play for nearly 22 hours or more).
  • One bar of health will provide 100 sec of real time life.
  • If you jump over the ledge at Colombian Roast Masters (in Paradise Plaza) onto the orange overhang with the sword on it (was well known spot from the demo) you appear to be unreachable by zombies. Have some books and food and enjoy a nice break.
  • If you time it correctly, it is possible to unplug your wireless controller after filling up your health bar, then walk away. It is recommended that you test this method before exploiting it. When your controller turns off due to inactivity (in under twenty minutes), the game will pause. It may also disconnect you from Xbox live, destroying your high score, so be warned about this method!
  • Using stores that have doors and small entrances you can go into a store, shut the door behind you and hold up like that as opposed to trying to build barricades. An ex. would be The Sinister Read book store in The entrance plaza or the store with the katana's and battle axes. The movie theater is also a great place for this--shut the door to a theater and relax until you need to venture for health. You can also kill Carlito in the food court on top of the building things and chill out up there not bothered until you need more food.
  • 1 hour game time = 5 min in real time
  • In Jill's sandwich shop when you barricade yourself in behind the counters and when zombies walk in take the plates near the stove and trow the plates at them instead of wasting ammo if you have a gun.
  • If level 50, the final skill Zombie Walk can be the single most useful tool in your arsenal. After you eat a piece of food to free your inventory between what the previous reader labeled 'barricades,' you can walk through the zombie horde in complete safety! Just remember that you may still be in danger at night or if a zombie is angered by you before attempting zombie walk. It is not 100% effective, takes a long time, and is boring. It is also useful if by accident, you run out of ammo or your weapon breaks, so keep it in mind.

Warnings

  • Don't go killing zombies, you can screw up your health and have to waste food to get it back up.
  • Check weather conditions for the day you are attempting this on. You don't want any storms to have a chance knock the power out in your area while you are in the middle of a good run.
  • Infinity Mode can overheat your Xbox 360, so play this mode AT YOUR OWN RISK! You need to leave your 360 on for a minimum of 10 hours straight to get the 5 day achievement, 14 hours for the 7 day, and even MORE if you're going for high scores!
  • For the over-heating issue I recommend installing the game to your hard drive via the new Xbox 360 Experience update. Prevents the disc from constantly spinning saving on normal wear and tear as well as over-heating.
  • Boredom is your biggest threat here, Infinity Mode is not that hard but the wait for your health bars to go down is a REALLY long time.
  • Don't leave the room because the unexpected can ALWAYS happen. It would suck if you survived for six days only to have to lose because you left to heat some pizza.

Things You'll Need

  • A book or magazine
  • A working Xbox 360
  • Dead Rising video game
  • Two T.V.'s so you can watch the other one while playing or if your T.V. has PIP it would be an advantage.
  • A container to hold human wastes!!
  • Maybe a 360 Cooling Fan, if you have one. it's a long time and might over heat (its not likely, but still.)
