Take Breaks at Work

Modern office workers are sometimes called "workaholics," working long hours and taking few breaks. Studies within the last few years have shown that skipping breaks or lunch can hamper productivity and even harm your health. There are a number of ways you can take breaks at work that help your concentration, physical fitness and mood. Employers have even caught on to the benefits of frequent "micro-breaks."   1. Talk to your boss. If breaks aren't common in your workplace, you'll want to discuss the idea with your boss.   • If you are worried that taking small breaks might be seen as lazy in your office, consult your manager or human resources department.
