Take Care of a Reborn Baby Doll

Do you love babies but are either too young, not ready, or not able to have children of your own? Do you want a very real-feeling "parenting simulation" that is also fun? If this applies to you then you should consider a reborn doll. Reborn dolls are dolls that are made professionally to look like real babies. They can be expensive but it is all worth it.

Steps

  1. Prepare for your reborn as you would a real baby. Make sure you are prepared before you buy your reborn doll, just like a real baby. Buy real clothes or order them off the Internet, blankets, diapers, bottles, pacifiers, blankets, stroller car seat - both toddler or infant, fake formula (this can be made with fabric softener or glue and water, it's up to you) wipes, toys, etc. However, do not feel the need to buy over--priced items as a reborn isn't real and doesn't have feelings. Also plan for what doll you want. Do you want a girl or a boy? Do you care if the main body is cotton in exchange for a cheaper price? Be prepared to spend at least $90.
  2. Unbox the baby! When he/she arrives, pick out a name and fill out the birth certificate if the baby comes with one and doesn't have a name yet and if it is not already filled out for you, and if they did not, you can print one off the internet. Take your baby out of the box, and remove their clothing to observe the doll and see if there are any marks or scratches on them. Then, redress them. Take some photos with your baby.
  3. Care for the baby. Choose whether you want to change the baby to make sure they are clean after their long trip, or to prepare a bottle for them, or cover them up in a warm blanket to take a nice long nap. Whatever you choose, be prepared to repeat it every day. Spend some time holding the reborn and sitting with him or her, as this will make you feel more confident and comfortable with your doll.
  4. If you really want to take it seriously and have the time for it, create a schedule for your baby. Having a schedule for Feeding times, expected changing times, nap times, play times.
  5. Be comfortable showing your baby off to friends and family if you enjoy doing so. There's nothing wrong with having a little boast and if you want to have him or her all to yourself, that's fine too.
  6. Take your baby on a walk through the neighborhood in a stroller with a pacifier in their mouth and all snuggled up in the stroller. Also, if you will feel confident enough to do it, It'll make you feel like a real mother to a real child. If you want, instead you can place him/her into another stroller with blankets and toys with them.

Tips

  • If you leave your reborn home alone put it in something nice and where not a pet or something can get it.
  • Never let them sit in the burning hot sun because they could melt.
  • Keep them safe and away from any pets.
  • Make sure you buy one you are very happy to have.
  • Take care of it like it was your first baby.
  • Take the right type of doll for you. Don't take something that you don't really want.
  • When you take your reborn on a long trip make sure you have all the essentials, for example diapers, bottle, toys, blanket, extra clothes, pacifiers, strollers, car seats both toddler or infant.
  • Choose a price range before you start looking at dolls so you don't overspend!
  • You can also buy reborn toddlers and children.
  • Don't leave your baby doll anywhere alone.
  • If you have a pet and you leave the house make sure your baby is in a room without any pets that can chew on them and tear them apart. If you keep the door closed, that helps a lot and keeps your pets from chewing them up.
  • Keep the doll away from small children.
  • You can take it to school for parenting class.

Warnings

  • Some babies have loose necks like real babies, necks that need support. Be aware of this before you buy them so you know to be careful.
  • Be careful with your reborn, especially if you are handling food and water. Make sure you seal the bottles so they don't leak.
  • Don't actually put lotion or products on them. You have a special and expensive doll here: be careful with it.
