Treat a Small Cut With Vaseline

If you've cut yourself and you have no plasters, follow this method to stop the bleeding.

Steps

  1. Clean the wound. This is important, as you need to make sure that no dirt or bacteria is in the wound. Use a sterile gauze pad or rinse with water.
  2. Dry the cut.
  3. Apply Vaseline to the affected area - this will stop the bleeding.

Tips

  • The Vaseline is absorbed into your skin so you can leave it to heal while getting on with what you were doing.
  • Make sure that you put a thick layer of Vaseline on the cut, but not too thick.
  • Carmex or any lip balm will do the job just as well. Carmex is especially good as it contains an antiseptic.

Warnings

  • Do not use this method to treat a large wound - it's only for small cuts.

Things You'll Need

  • Vaseline or Carmex
