Unarchive an Email on Gmail on Android

This article teaches you how to restore an archived Gmail message to the Inbox on an Android device.

Steps

Using the Gmail App

  1. Open Gmail. The app has a white envelope with a large red M. You’ll typically find it on your home screen. If you don’t see it there, you’ll find it in the app drawer.
    • If you’re not signed in to Gmail, type your Google ID and password to sign in now.
  2. Tap . It’s at the top-left corner of the screen. A menu will appear.
  3. Select All Mail.
  4. Tap the message you want to restore. This opens the message.
  5. Tap . It’s at the top-right corner of the screen.
  6. Select Move to Inbox. The message is now back in your inbox.

Using a Web Browser

  1. Open your web browser. Tap the Chrome icon on your home screen (a red, green, yellow, and blue wheel) or open the browser of your choice.
  2. Go to https://www.gmail.com.
    • If you’re not already signed in to Gmail, enter your Google account information to log in now.
  3. Tap . It’s at the top-left corner of the screen.
  4. Scroll down and tap All Mail. It’s under the “More” heading.
  5. Tap the message you want to restore. This opens the message.
  6. Tap Move to inbox. It’s near the top-right corner of the message. The message is now back in the inbox.
