Use Chat Effects and Colors in RuneScape

Do you want to make your chat text in Runescape stand out? Do you need to grab other players' attention? Make text stand out by turning it into different colours and using other effects.

Steps

  1. Log on to your Runescape account. This will not work on Runescape Classic, which is really old.
  2. Turn on the chat effects feature under the "options" bar; this is marked by a wrench. If this is off the syntax will not work.
  3. Think of the type of text you want. It's good to visualize what you want your text to look like. If you don't you may end up with something people can't understand.
  4. Type the effects you want into the chat. Use this syntax: colour:effect:text. Do not put spaces in between the code and the text, or it will not display correctly. If you like, you can specify only a colour, or only an effect - there is no obligation to use both.

Tips

  • Also, if you decide to put, both the colours and the effects together, then always remember to put them in this structure :- colour:effect:(your message)
  • If everyone is using effects, normal text may actually stand out more.
  • You cannot put more than one of the same type of code in the same text. For example, you can put red:wave:, but you cannot put red:yellow: , wave:shake:
  • Here's a list of the colors you can use:
    • red: - Turns text red.
    • yellow: - Turns text yellow (default).
    • green: - Turns text green.
    • cyan: - Turns text cyan (closest to light blue or aqua).
    • purple: - Turns text purple.
    • white: - Turns text white.
    • flash1: - Text flashes between red and yellow text.
    • flash2: - Text flashes between cyan and blue text.
    • flash3: - Text flashes between light and dark green text.
    • glow1: - Text fades from red to orange to yellow to green to cyan.
    • glow2: - Text fades from red to magenta to blue to dark red.
    • glow3: - Text fades from white to green to white to cyan.
  • Here are a list of the effects you can use:
    • wave: - Text moves up and down like a wave.
    • wave2: - Text waves diagonally.
    • shake: - Text shakes bizarrely.
    • slide: - Text slides up and down.
    • scroll: - Text scrolls from left to right.

Warnings

  • Don't use too many effects or people won't be able to read it!
