Use Isotrex Gel

Isotrex Gel contains isotretinoin 0,05 g per 100 g, and butylated hydroxytoluene as antioxidant. It is used primarily for the treatment of acne or wrinkles, and as pre and post treatment for skin surface laser treatments. Isotrex is generally prescribed by a physician.

Steps

  1. Prepare your face for the Isotrex gel by cleansing your skin.
  2. After cleansing your face, pat it dry to ensure it is no longer dripping with water. Allow your skin to dry it self now over the next 10-15 minutes.
  3. Using clean hands, un screw the cap on the isotrex and gently squeeze out a small amount of isotrex gel into the top section of your left index finger.
  4. Using both your index and middle fingers on both hands, quickly spread the isotrex gel on these top parts of your fingers (taking no longer then 2-3 seconds)
  5. Now, using both the index/middle fingers on both hands, apply the Isotrex gel onto either your forehead or cheeks (not both) by rubbing them in a circular motion. The gel will eventually dry into your skin, this is when you stop rubbing it in. Be sure to apply it to all the effected areas on either your forehead or cheeks.
  6. Note: If need to treat both your forehead and cheeks, be sure to treat one part at a time using the instructions above. For example: cleanse your entire face as normal, apply {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} to {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} on your index finger, and follow the instruction to apply that entire amount onto your forehead first. Then, go back to step 3, re-apply another {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} to {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} amount of isotrex to your index finger, then follow the steps apply it to your cheeks.

Tips

  • Sometimes when you apply isotrex, your skin can feel a little dryer then normal, this is normal, especially when the seasons are changing. your skin will take a few weeks to adapt, try not to apply moisturizer on top of isotrex, wait till the next morning, and apply it to freshly washed skin during the day.
  • apply the Istorex at night, and wash it off in the morning. Try to avoid applying it during the day, as Isotrex can make your skin vulnerable to the sun.
  • If Isotrex has cleared your skin from acne, continue using it to maintain your clear skin. If you discontinue use, your skin will generally break out after 6-12 weeks of your last application.
  • If you are doing laser revision, dermabrasion or chemical peels, you may want to check with your physician if using isotrex will be suitable in both pre and post treatment. I generally use Istorex normally until the actual day of the scar revision procedure, wait 1-2 weeks after the procedure, then continue using it again after the scabs have formed.
  • It takes a good 3 months for the Istorex to take full effect for some people, persistence is the key.
  • you do need to use Isotrex gel at least 6 out of 7 days of the weeks for it to work effectively as possibly. Don't purposely take one day off a week though, use that day off only when necessary (i.e: when you forget)
  • If you forget to use istorex, skip the day you missed, and continue using it the following day as your normally would.
  • You may use a cleanser in the morning to remove the isotrex, otherwise just use water. If you do rub your skin, it is normal to see the isotrex rub out after being applied (resembles dead skin). Try to avoid this though, as it can irritate the skin, use water or a cleanser instead.
  • some people believe that isotrex can cause an "Initial breakout", this is where the skin gets worse before it gets better. I would say there is a 50/50 split between people do and don't experience this. The initial breakout period should only last a few weeks (if it happens), if your skin doesn't clear up by week 12, you may want to consider stopping the product as it is unlikely to work with continued use.
  • Do not apply more than {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}}'s of Isotrex gel to either your forehead or cheeks. This will not increase its effectiveness, and may further dry and irritate your skin. A small amount is all that is needed for this potent gel.
  • The isotrex you apply should be between {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} to {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} long when you squeeze into on your index finger.
  • If you are doing needling or microdermabrasion for scar revision, continue to use the isotrex as usually (it will in fact help with the healing process). Skin may be more a little bit more sensitive then normal, so be careful.
  • It is important to remove any excess oil, dirt and other impurities through cleansing so the gel can penetrate effectively into the dermis. Try to avoid using regular soap to cleanse your skin, use a proper facial cleanser designed for combating acne. Good examples include AC Benzac wash (can be harsh on the skin though) which uses Benzoyl Peroxide to combat acne, though it can by very drying and not suitable for sensitive skin. Other more gentle cleansers include Neutrogena facial cleanser, St. Ives Elements Protective Cleanser and Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser.
  • You can use another skin care product during the day. Moisturizer is preferable, otherwise, people dealing with acne use other alternatives such as Benzoyl Peroxide, finacea, Sulfuric acid, alpha Hydroxy acid products and so forth. your skin may have a tough time adapting to the products, so apply small amounts and slowly build up from there.

Warnings

  • Do no touch your face, wash it, or apply moisturizer for at least 10 hours after applying Istorex, as this can possibly stop the istorex from working.
  • If your skin becomes irritated or overly dry discontinue use till symptoms clear. Then apply a smaller amount again, hopefully this time the skin will of adapted. If skin again becomes irritated, discontinue use
  • If your skin suffers from an allergic reaction, discontinue use immediately, wash off the istorex wash gel with water, and consult your physician.
