Add a PowerPoint to WordPress

Adding a PowerPoint presentation to your WordPress blog, whether free or self-hosted, allows you to incorporate more interesting media types to your content. You can upload and add a PowerPoint presentation to display a visual representation of your point, much in the same way you can embed a video clip. The process is the same regardless of whether you have your own domain and pay for self-hosting. Only the process of logging into the blog account is different.

Steps

1. Determine whether your WordPress blog is self-hosted.
   • If your domain name includes the term "wordpress," then you are using the free version at Wordpress.com.
   • If you registered a domain name that does not include the word "wordpress," then you have a self-hosted blog with WordPress software installed.
2. Log into your WordPress blog.
   • Free blog users will go to the WordPress website, linked in the sources section of this article, and sign in with their user names and passwords.
   • Self-hosted blog users will navigate to the login website provided when they installed the WordPress software.
3. Create a new post to hold your PowerPoint presentation by clicking the "Add New" link under "Posts" in the left sidebar menu.
4. Locate and click the "Add Media" button above the text entry section of the new post.
   • Mousing over the buttons will reveal which one you need.
5. Click the "Select Files" button on the pop-up menu, navigate to your presentation and then click "Open."
   • You will then see a number of options for your uploaded media file, including a title, caption and description.
6. Fill in the fields with your desired information and click the "Insert into Post" button at the bottom of this pop-up window.
7. Preview your post to check the results and then click the "Publish" button to make your post live and viewable by your readers.

Tips

• If you click the "Save all changes" button before choosing to insert your media in the post, you can get back to that screen by clicking the "Show" link next to the name of your media.
