Put a Hyperlink in Microsoft PowerPoint
In a PowerPoint presentation you can hyperlink to images or websites. Just start with Step 1 below to learn how to add these links to your slide-show.
Steps
- Insert. Write the text or image you want to have as the link onto the PowerPoint slide.
- Highlight it. Select it then right-click on it. Select the "Hyperlink" option on the pops up menu.
- Fill out the fields. "Link to" what URL you want by selecting a website address from the list, or type in another.
- Type out the words you would like "displayed" as the link.
- Click OK.
- Confirm the link works. Hold the CTRL key while clicking the link. The link should turn blue and become underlined.
- Run it. The link is now ready to be used during your PowerPoint presentation.
Tips
- Instead of linking to websites, you can create links to other documents, or even other slides in your presentation.
- You can use images as well as text for hyperlinks.
- If you already have an Internet Explorer page open, it will hyperlink on that window, instead of opening a new one.
- If you don't have PowerPoint, go to www.openoffice.org and download the latest version of OpenOffice. The presentation module is compatible with PowerPoint and it's free.
