Apply Car Adhesive Plastic on Carpet Floor

There are times where a rubber mat or even a carpet mat is just not good enough to protect your clean car carpet. But, being able to install an adhesive plastic protector will enhance the ability to have your carpet protected for as long as you have your vehicle.

Steps

  1. Remove all items from the carpet floor. This includes any carpet mats or rubber mats currently there.
  2. Use a vacuum to remove loose dirt and litter from the floor. This is so you don’t end up having any crumbs sticking to the plastic.
  3. Check there aren’t any carpet stains visible. If so, clean the carpet stain(s) before moving to the next step.
  4. Allow the carpet to dry. This can be done with certain cleaning supplies. The quickest way of doing that would be to have the heat set to max and directed to the feet vent so that the floor will dry.
  5. Make sure there is enough space for you to set the plastic adhesive protector on the floor. This should be done once there aren’t any carpet stains visible and the carpet is fully dried. Once this is done, you can adjust the seat to add the carpet.
  6. Drag the adhesive carpet protector off the roller and tear off the amount of plastic needed for the carpet. Make sure there isn’t air pushing against plastic so the plastic won't stick with each side.
  7. Take the plastic piece that you have cut off. Then lay on the carpet floor having the plastic faced in the length direction.
  8. Release the air. Wipe the plastic with your hands until the plastic is fully set on the floor.
    • You will able to determine when the plastic is stuck by seeing plastic compressed to the carpet.
  9. Use a razor to cut off all extra pieces. This includes the edges.
  10. Apply the same steps to the rest of the car. Just tear off the amount necessary for the size of the carpet and most rear carpet sides have plastic in width position.
    • When applying plastic in the rear area, make sure you adjust the seat to be pushed to the front.
  11. Allow the heat to be turned on one more time with all doors and windows closed.
    • Between 5-10 of warm air in the car will just allow the plastic to be 100% set.
  12. Finished!
