Be a Damsel in Distress

The 'Damsel in Distress' image seems to go back for a long time. Different stories have different images of the, 'damsel in distress.' In some she is a fragile, demure figure. Do you really admire people like Maid Marian, who are sassy yet damsels in distress? Well, read on to find out how you can act like her.

Steps

  1. Know your audience. Not every guy is going to want you to be a, 'damsel in distress,' for him. There is a certain kind of guy that does, though. Think of him as a, 'white knight,' who will always rush to defend your honor. Even when, 'you might have been in the wrong'(which, you weren't!). You can encourage him to do this by giving him little rewards. Maybe place a hand on his shoulder and thank him.
  2. Create an image. To do this most efficiently, you should act as though everyone is very interested in your life. Eventually you will find a guy that will listen to you intently as you complain about conflicts in your life. Put a spin on the drama in your life! Everything happens for a reason? Hardly! Everything bad happens to you, and it's because everyone's against you! Don't hesitate to point fingers at specific people who are especially mean. This helps your 'white knight' know who the bad people are.
  3. Get the right attitude. You must think that you have done nothing wrong, otherwise your innocent damsel demeanour will be shattered. Even if the facts are against you, you must maintain that you are right. If your 'white knight,' wasn't there when a fight broke out, he doesn't know the details. He surely doesn't want to hear the other person's side of the story - they're wrong! So give him your side of the story, the only one that was right in the whole situation.
  4. When you have been rescued, admire the strong qualities of your hero. Don't be stoic. Gush (both verbally and with tears)!
  5. If you don't want to gush tears, as mentioned in the last step, open your eyes wide and let them water just a bit, then turn the corners of your mouth down in a slight pout. Practice in the mirror first, so you don't look like a clown.

Warning

  1. Never look like you are trying too hard. All guys will just think you are pathetic.
  2. Never tell your friends what you are doing to guys. They may well tell the guys themselves and you will be screwed.
  3. Act innocent around your friends as well as guys as this will make the act more believable.
  4. Also be aware that you might come off as a negative person. No one wants to hang out with people who are nagging and complaining all the time.
  5. Acting like a damsel in distress may be fatal to your social life if you overdo it, so don't do anything over the top.
  6. Avoid acting like this in front of other girls because they will eventually find you over-dramatic and annoying and this could lead to a bad social status and your White Knight might not want to save you any more

Tips

  • You should always be asking yourself, 'whose fault is this instead of my own?' or, alternatively 'who can I blame for this?' Weave this into the story. If you keep bringing up one person negatively, you can make them into a villain. White knights love villains, and will often join you in despising them.
  • Do not engage in intimacy with the white knight! It is better if you go through a string of bad relationships while telling the white knight about them. This creates a self-sustaining backdrop for all your conversations with the white knight.
  • Wailing is optional
