Be a Stylish Preteen

Being on the bridge between childhood and the teen years can get confusing with the pressure to fit in and look cool. If you haven't noticed already, style has taken a new importance at school. However, do not try to be a person whom you are not. Try to "fit out".

Steps

  1. Discover your style. Whether it is loud and proud or modest and pretty follow it through! Look at fashion magazines for ideas, but DO NOT let yourself be pressured into looking "hot".
  2. Hit the mall and buy some cute outfits according to your style. Abercrombie, Ivivva, and Hollister tend to be on the expensive side, so try Justice, Macy's, American Eagle, or Wet Seal. Check out discount stores like Aeropostale, TJ Maxx, or Forever 21 if you're on a real tight budget. In addition to buying the latest trends, buy wardrobe staples like tank tops and neutrals.
  3. Buy some shoes and accessories to go with your new outfits. Fake pearls and diamonds are essentials, depending on your style, as are headbands and hair clips, but also check out funky accessories. Buy shoes according to the weather such as flip-flops and sandals in the summer and boots in the winter.
  4. Have a cute hairstyle!<b> Try scrunching your hair for a stylish messy/cute hairdo. Always make sure you know the limit between messy and lazy messy. Also, try simple hairstyles such as having your hair half-up, pigtails, braids, etc. Cute hair stuff such as scrunchies, clips, etc. can make a look totally fabulous. You can always get a cute haircut. Try side bangs or layers. Layers give thick hair a thinner look while they give thin hair a more full look.
  5. <b>Be yourself! As clichéd as it sounds, and as much as you won't believe it, it's not hard at all and people will love the real you! If you're not yourself, it is not worth it! Be yourself and people will like you.
  6. Be confident! If you don't believe in yourself, who else will believe in you? Sit up straight, walk with your head high, and laugh off rumors.
