Beat the Second Kanto Gym Leader in Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green
Interested in learning how to beat the second Kanto Gym Leader in Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green? You'll need to assess the abilities of your opponent and team, train your party members, and kick and punch to your heart's content. If you lose, you can try again by catching new Pokémon to help you out.
Steps
- Analyze your opponent. It is Misty, so be ready for a Staryu and Starmie.
- Analyze your team. Charmander would not be a good choice, as Misty is a water Pokémon trainer. It is an obvious type of disadvantage. Did you pick up a Pikachu in the Viridian forest? If you did, this gym will be easy; water conducts electricity. For pickers of Bulbasaur, this one will be easy as well.
- Train all your current party members to level 25 at least. The higher they are, the better.
- Utilize the kick and punch! Outside of Mt. Moon you may have noticed two people. One teaches your Pokémon Mega Punch, the other Mega Kick. These are great moves to use against Misty.
- Challenge the gym! Be sure to make full use of the mega moves, especially if using Charmander.
- If you lose, try training to level 30 or catch some new Pokémon, such as Zubat and Clefairy.
