Blow Out Candles
Blowing out a candle sounds to an adult like a simple thing to do. Pucker up and blow!. But in a child's mind, it is difficult and they have no idea how to blow. They know how to dribble, and how to cry, but not how to blow.
Steps
- Begin with one or two candles.
- Take a deep breath.
- Make a wish. Though this step is optional, it is customary to make a wish before you blow out the candles, especially on one's birthday, as many believe that if you manage to get them all out in one breath your wish will be granted.
- Make your mouth into an "o" shape.
- Exhale. This should be done somewhat forcefully with your mouth pointed at the candles. Make sure not to spit.
- Practice with more candles. With lots of candles, it is most effective to start on one side of the cake and swiftly move towards the other end.
Warnings
- Don't breathe in the smoke. Instead, use your hand to wave the smoke the opposite direction of your smoke alarm.
- If your candle is really super drippy, then place your hand a few centimeters behind the candle in the direction you're blowing. This way any lose wax won't land on your table or tablecloth.
