Browse the Internet on Your Nintendo DS

Have you always wanted to browse the Internet at your fingertips? Now with the Nintendo DS browser, you can do that!

Steps

  1. Order the Nintendo DS browser from the Nintendo Online Store or buy it off eBay.
  2. Wait for it to be shipped. This may take some time. If you do not have a Nintendo DS Lite, you must order the edition for the Original-Style Nintendo DS Console.
  3. Insert the Memory Expansion Pak into SLOT-2. If you have ordered the original-style Nintendo DS model and have a Nintendo DS Lite, the Memory Expansion Pak will stick out of the console. DON'T Force it in. This is normal. The DS Lite model will NOT work with the original-style DS console.
  4. Insert the Nintendo DS Browser Game Card in SLOT-1 of your Nintendo DS console. Press it in until you hear it click within the console.
  5. Turn the Nintendo DS console ON. If you have the Original-style Nintendo DS, there will be a power button in the console. If you have a Nintendo DS Lite, there is a switch on the side.
  6. Select the Nintendo DS Browser Icon from the start menu. If you have Auto-Start, skip this step. DON'T remove the Game Card from the console while using the console!
  7. Configure your settings for the browser. You may wish to create a password. KEEP YOUR PASSWORD SECRET!
  8. Configure your default internet settings.
  9. Test connections.
  10. Enjoy browsing the Internet on your Nintendo DS console!

For Nintendo DSi and Nintendo 3DS models:

  • Use the browser built in to the console. For the DSi, there is Nintendo DSi Browser. The 3DS has a built-in browser.

Tips

  • Go the Network. Use the button 'connection' to enter the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Setup. This setup works the same in every wifi game, so if you have another wifi game, this setup has already a network saved. If not, read the manual.
  • If you still have questions, go the Nintendo website (on a computer) or read the manual.
  • Use the browser to read this page.
  • If it doesn't work, try the settings.

Warnings

  • Make sure you bought the correct version for your Nintendo DS, because the memory expansion pack for the DS Lite will not fit in the original DS.
  • Also, Nintendo DS Browser is also a bottleneck (due to lack of flash movies, audio, and long loading times). So don't bother buying it if you really hate to wait a long time.
  • The Nintendo DS Browser does not play music or videos/movies. If you would like to play movies and/or videos on your DS console, we would recommend using the Datel Games N' Music Flashcart. Just note that it isn't official.
  • If you use a DSi, you must a) download the free DSi browser from the DSi shop or b) The DSi browser is included and you must tap it to use it.
  • The Nintendo DS Browser is NOT compatible with Internet protected with WPA or WPA2 security, only WEP security. However, the browsers on the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo 3DS (and the Internet always comes in handy, but it's even better if it's on the go! Here's how to do it on your Nintendo DS or respective XL models) are compatible with WPA and WPA2.
