Buy a Classic Chevy

Like purchasing any classic car, looking to buy a classic Chevy can be as easy as looking in your local newspaper. The search, though, could take you all the way across the country depending on how much you are willing to spend and how far you are willing to travel to have the vehicle shipped or delivered.

Steps

  1. Look in your local classified ads first. Look not only in the car advertisement section for dealers, but also check the personal classifieds. If you are fortunate enough to find a vehicle close to home, you will save both time and the cost for shipment or delivery.
  2. Pick up a regional trade magazine at a local gas station. Most convenience stores/gas stations have a rack of publications with vehicles for sale, and because the vehicle locations are regional, you are probably within a reasonable driving distance to pick up the car.
  3. Go online to find a location to purchase your classic Chevy. Searching the web not only gives you a national reach, but an international reach as well.
    • Try ClassicCars.com as an option to locate your classic Chevy. Fill out the "Buy/Search/Browse" section of their homepage, and then hit the "Search" button to begin your query. Vehicles that meet your criteria will be brought up arranged by year and asking price, and you will also be shown a photograph of the available vehicles as well.
    • Visit the AutoTrader Classic homepage and click on the "Find Cars, Parts, or Services" option. Next input the following fields: year range, make, model and distance you are willing to purchase your vehicle from. Then, hit the "Go" button and view your results. Next you will be taken to a screen where you can see photographs, prices and location of the cars the search engine brought up. This site also gives you the option to choose up to three cars to compare against each other in side-by-side rundown of all of the key features of the car, including price.
    • Broaden your search internationally by visiting Classic Cars For Sale out of the United Kingdom. This global website will help you find classic Chevy vehicles in a variety of countries. Once on the homepage, use the "Buy A Classic" and plug in the Make of the vehicle and any other additional keywords that you might find applicable (like year) in the "and/or KEYWORDS" field.
  4. Contact the seller directly once you find a vehicle that you are interested in. He or she can answer questions, and you can discuss making an offer on the car you want to purchase. You will also need to agree on arrangements for transport or delivery of the vehicle as well as discuss making sure that the appropriate title work is delivered with the car.
  5. Finished.
