Buy a Gift Subscription on Netflix

Since more people are using Netflix over the years, it's only natural that they would want to share the wealth with their family and friends. It's not possible to buy an actual subscription for others, but if you have an Amazon account, you can buy gift cards online, which can be used as prepaid Netflix subscriptions.

Steps

  1. Open your Amazon account. If you aren’t automatically logged in, type in your email and password and hit “Sign in.”
  2. Type “Netflix gift cards” into the search bar. The search bar is located at the top of the Amazon page.
  3. Click the magnifying glass to search.
  4. Click “Netflix Gift Cards - E-mail Delivery”.
  5. Click a gift card design. You can also click “See More” to view more creative designs that will go on the face of your gift card.
  6. Select your gift card amount. The minimum is $25 while the maximum is $100.
  7. Type in your recipient's email. If you enter numerous emails, you can separate them using commas or by pressing Enter to write an email on a new line.
  8. Type in your name.
  9. Create a custom message.
  10. Type a desired amount in the Quantity box. If you want to buy more than one gift card, type a new number into the box. Otherwise, leave the default quantity at 1.
  11. Decide on a delivery date. You can type the delivery date into the text box beside the calendar icon using the MM/DD/YYYY format. You can also click the calendar icon to choose a specific date.
  12. Click “Proceed to Checkout”.
  13. Re-enter your password. Before you can checkout, you will be redirected to a security window.
  14. Enter your shipping address. You can select from previous addresses on your Amazon account, or you can select an Amazon pickup address.
  15. Click on your payment method.
  16. Click on your shipping method.
  17. Review your order.
  18. Finalize your purchase. Your gift card and a redemption code will be sent to your recipient's email. They can now use their gift card to create a Netflix account and start a new subscription.

Tips

  • If you enter more than one recipient email, “Quantity” will change to “1 to each recipient” and cannot be changed.

Warnings

  • You can only buy gift cards online if you're in the United States.
  • As of March 4, 2014, the online gift subscription service became unavailable.
