Change Text Size in Safari on macOS
This article teaches you how to adjust the text size in Safari when you’re on a Mac.
Steps
Changing the Font Size
- Open Safari. It’s the blue, red, and white compass icon, typically located on the Dock. If you don't see it there, check the Launchpad or the Applications folder.
- Use this method to change the size of the text in a webpage. This will not affect the size of images, including those with stylized text (such as logos).
- Go to any website. Try using a site that has a lot of text, such as a news site or literary journal.
- Press ⌥ Option+⌘ Command++ to increase the font size. The text on the screen will grow larger each time you press this key combination.
- Press ⌥ Option+⌘ Command+- to decrease the font size. The size of the text will decrease as you keep pressing this key combination.
Zooming In and Out
- Open Safari. It’s the blue, red, and white compass icon, typically located on the Dock. If you don't see it there, check the Launchpad or the Applications folder.
- Use this method to learn how to change the size of everything on a webpage, including all images and text.
- Go to any website. Use a site with both images and text, such as your favorite news source.
- Press ⌘ Command++ to zoom in. Everything in the browser window will appear larger. Continue pressing this combination to keep zooming in.
- Press ⌘ Command+- to zoom out. This will decrease the size of everything on the screen. Continue pressing this combination until you’re zoomed out to your desired level.
