Circuit Train in the Gym
Are you looking into the doors of that gym but have no idea about how to get started? A good way to begin is by undertaking circuit training.
Steps
- Find a gym that you can get to often and easily. Make sure you find out the opening times.
- Prepare yourself for a 45 minute -1 1/2hr workout. This means comfortable clothes, a drink bottle and a towel.
- Arrive at your gym and pay the entrance fee. Some owners may offer to help you get started and some may not but don't let it phase you. If they offer: take the help! They can offer valuable advice on how to do the exercises and for how long etc.
- Assuming you have no help, sort though the maze of strange equipment by deciding where to start and what to do. Before starting you need to decide whether you are going to work to a time or a certain amount of lifts or whatever. Either way, start on the bike for 5 minutes or so; don't go too fast, it's just a warm up.
- Move onto something to do with the legs. Often there are 3 or more things so this should be easy to find. Complete 2 things or so on you legs making the weights so that you can feel when you exercise but not too hard.
- Do about 5 minutes on the rowing machine.
- Do some arm work outs. About the same as legs.
- Follow this with leg workouts and then additional arm workouts.
- Finish off with some stretches and another quick go on the bike.
Tips
- Remember to drink plenty of water.
- Often gyms have special circuits already in place; use their instructions to follow it properly.
- Have fun! Importantly, don't make it too long or boring because you won't come back.
