Cook Cereal Prawn
Cereal prawn, a signature dish of Southeast Asian cuisine, has always been the favorite of all ages. Here are a few easy steps for everyone to try at home.
Ingredients
- 1. Prawns (600g)
- 2. Cereal (Nestum original)
- 3. Curry leaves (3-4 leaves)
- 4. Chili padi (1 chopped)
- 5. Butter (1/2 slab of SCS butter)
- 6. Corn Flour (200g-250g)
- 7. Milk powder (50g)
- 8. Egg (1)
- 9. Sugar (1 teaspoon)
Steps
- Place all ingredients on one spot that is easy to access.
- Clean prawns, leave shell on.
- Mix the corn flour with the milk powder.
- Beat the egg.
- Dip the prawns into the egg.
- Coat the prawns with the mixture of flour and milk powder.
- Deep fry the prawns. Leave aside after cooked.
- Melt the butter in a wok and add in curry leaves and chilli padi. Stir fry until fragrant
- Add the cereal and stir fry, and a teaspoon of sugar after a minute.
- Add prawns and stir fry for a moment.(You can turn down the fire so as not to overcook the cereal)
- Arrange aesthetically and it would be ready for serving.
Tips
- You may choose to leave the prawn's tail on, to add flavour to the prawn.
- Buy bigger prawns as they have better taste. If you like your prawns to be much spicier add more chilli padi, and it will provide more aroma as well.
- Milk powder adds a bit of sweetness in the prawns. However, it is optional.
Warnings
- When cooking the cereal, curry leaves and chilli padi, turn to small fire so as not to overcook them.
