Make Panko Fried Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds medium to large shrimp, shells removed, tails on
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup Panko crumbs
  • A bowl of cocktail sauce and tarter sauce to dip your shrimp in (optional)
  • 10 lemon wedges
  • A pinch of salt and pepper

Steps

  1. Defrost shrimp if it is frozen. Soak it in hot or warm water so it could defrost faster.
  2. Take out shrimp shells and throw them in the garbage.
  3. Season shrimp with salt and pepper, making sure all sides are seasoned well.
  4. Heat oil in skillet to {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} and 176 Celsius.
  5. Add Panko crumbs to a large plastic food storage bag. Shake well.
  6. Butterfly shrimp by cutting vertically down the back of the shrimp.
  7. Beat the eggs and water together until yolks are broken.
  8. Dip the shrimp in the egg-water mixture.
  9. Add the Make Shrimp Stir Fry to the Panko crumbs.
  10. Toss to coat.
  11. Remove shrimp from bag and dip again in egg-water mixture.
  12. Return to Panko crumbs in bag.
  13. Toss again.
  14. Fry in hot oil at {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} until golden, about 3 minutes. You may have to turn the shrimp to evenly brown them.
  15. Drain the fried shrimp on paper towels.
  16. Keep shrimp warm while frying batches of shrimp.
  17. Serve with lemon wedges, cocktail sauce or tartar sauce.

Tips

  • Use an electric skillet for even heating.
  • You may have to add extra Panko crumbs to the bag to finish coating the shrimp. This is a flexible recipe.
  • Use about 1-inch oil in skillet to fry the shrimp.
