Cook Mongos
Mongoes or mongo beans is a very delicious food. It gives a lot of protein and may help neutralize poisonous substances in you body.
Ingredients
- 1 kilo Mongo beans
- Cooking oil
- Onion
- Pork chop (chopped) or Fish (shredded) any fish will do
- Garlic
- Small Philippine tomato
- Salt and monosodium glutamate
Steps
- Soak the mongo beans for 30 minutes.
- Boil the mongoes along with your choice of pork together. Add salt.
- Prepare slice of onions, garlic, tomato and spring onions.
- Cut the pork into small dices.
- After the mongoes have softened from boiling, sauté the mongo beans in a frying pan with a little amount of cooking oil and add your spices.
- Add water then boil the mongoes for 10 - 15 minutes.
- Serve in a bowl and eat with rice.
Tips
- You can use fish or dried fish if you want.
- Don't ever use chicken.
- Add the mongo beans little by little in sauteing.
Warnings
- Uric acid in mongo beans can cause gout or arthritis.
- There is no chicharon in the original native recipe but nowadays, they add chicharon as a topping along with extra garlic mince and some chopped greens.
