Cook Mongos

Mongoes or mongo beans is a very delicious food. It gives a lot of protein and may help neutralize poisonous substances in you body.

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo Mongo beans
  • Cooking oil
  • Onion
  • Pork chop (chopped) or Fish (shredded) any fish will do
  • Garlic
  • Small Philippine tomato
  • Salt and monosodium glutamate

Steps

  1. Soak the mongo beans for 30 minutes.
  2. Boil the mongoes along with your choice of pork together. Add salt.
  3. Prepare slice of onions, garlic, tomato and spring onions.
  4. Cut the pork into small dices.
  5. After the mongoes have softened from boiling, sauté the mongo beans in a frying pan with a little amount of cooking oil and add your spices.
  6. Add water then boil the mongoes for 10 - 15 minutes.
  7. Serve in a bowl and eat with rice.

Tips

  • You can use fish or dried fish if you want.
  • Don't ever use chicken.
  • Add the mongo beans little by little in sauteing.

Warnings

  • Uric acid in mongo beans can cause gout or arthritis.
  • There is no chicharon in the original native recipe but nowadays, they add chicharon as a topping along with extra garlic mince and some chopped greens.
