  • Total time: 11-13 minutes

Steps

Frying Pork Chops

  1. Start with fresh pork chops. You can use either bone-in or boneless chops. Make sure they're completely thawed if you purchased them frozen.
  2. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large skillet. Place the skillet over medium high heat and let the oil get nice and hot.
    • Any type of oil will do - olive oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil - you pick. You could also use butter.
    • If you're frying more than 4 or so pork chops, you might need to heat up a second pan as well.
    • Using a heavy cast iron skillet will give the pork chops a good sear.
  3. Season the pork chops. Sprinkle them on both sides with plenty of salt, pepper, and other seasonings of your choice like garlic powder or cayenne.
  4. Lay the pork chops in the pan.
  5. Cook them on the first side for 3-4 minutes. Leave them in on the longer side if they're thicker than {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}}. After a few minutes the first side should develop a good brown crust.
    • If you want to glaze the pork chops, add a teaspoon of honey, marmalade or maple syrup to the top of each one before you flip them.
    • For sage-infused pork chops, add a few leaves of fresh sage to the oil in the pan as the pork chops cook. The leaves will fry and become crispy.
  6. Flip the pork chops and cook them for another 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove the pork chops from the pan and put them on a plate.
  8. Enjoy your pork chops with potatoes and other sides.

Baking Pork Chops

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Season your pork chops. Sprinkle them with salt, pepper, cayenne, paprika, dried oregano, and any other spices you like.
    • If you want to make breaded pork chops, mix up 1 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. In a separate dish, mix 1 egg and 2 tablespoons water. Dip the pork chops in the egg mixture, then dip them in the flour mixture to coat.
    • Cracker crumbs, bread crumbs, corn flakes, and other breadings can also be used to add some crunch to your baked pork chops.
  3. Lay the pork chops in a baking dish. Use an oven-safe glass, ceramic or metal dish.
  4. Bake the pork chops for 10 minutes.
  5. Turn the pork chops over. Be careful opening the oven and flipping them over.
  6. Bake the pork chops for another 10-15 minutes.
  7. Test the pork chops for doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check their temperature. They're done when the internal temperature has reached 145 degrees.
  8. Remove the pork chops from the oven.
  9. Enjoy them with vegetables and salad.
