Cook Rice with Chicken Broth
This is a delicious recipe for chicken flavored rice. It is also very healthy and is highly recommended for those who are on a 4-6 meal a day plan.
Ingredients
- Rice
- 1 1/2 cups of chicken stock/broth for every cup of rice
- Frozen vegetables
Steps
- Decide how much rice you want to make.
- Pour the rice and chicken stock/broth into a pot.
- Bring broth and rice to a boil on medium heat.
- When it is boiling, bring the rice to medium-low heat.
- Place a lid on the pot and keep it tilted to allow steam to escape.
- When you can see holes or "craters" in the rice, put the lid on tight.
- Turn the heat to low and simmer for another 15 minutes.
- Fluff rice and serve.
- Finished.
Tips
- Fluff rice, by stirring with a fork.
- For an interesting twist, use half brown rice and half white rice. Prior to mixing with chicken broth, sautee rice in olive oil for 5 minutes over medium heat.
- (optional) Use a piece of aluminum foil when you put a lid on the pot. Just place on top of the pot, then put the lid on top for fluffier rice.
- If you like stickier rice, then place the lid on all the way in step 5.
Warnings
- Keep the temperature lower. Not all stoves heat at the same temperature.
- Don't burn yourself when putting on aluminum foil.
- Act quickly when taking the lid off the pot as steam will be escaping and can burn.
