Create a Spicy, Sweet and Sour Sauce
Some people know recipes for super-spicy sauces and some people know recipes for sweet and sour sauces, but when you combine the two they usually taste horrible. For a change, here is a recipe that is combines these two sauces and it tastes good, too.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup (60 ml.) ketchup
- 4 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (60 ml.) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml.) water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- additional spices by taste
Steps
- Mix ketchup, soy sauce, jalapeƱo pepper, black pepper, lemon juice, and salt(to taste) in a pot, and heat on stove.
- Mix cornstarch and water in a small container, dissolving cornstarch completely.
- When the mixture in the pot begins to boil, re-stir the cornstarch, and add to pot slowly, stirring continuously.
- Remove from heat when the contents of the pot are thickened, and stir in the honey.
- Add more salt and other spices to taste.
- When you get the taste you like, put it in a squeeze bottle and pour it on chicken or anything else.
- Serve.
Tips
- Optional spices include cayenne or red pepper, garlic powder, cumin, turmeric, and others.
- Keep refrigerated, and stir before using.
- You can use more or less of either the lemon juice (sour) or honey and/or sugar (sweet) to taste.
- Add some pineapple juice for a little different flavor.
