Create an Outline in Adobe Illustrator

This tutorial will show you how to create an outline in Adobe Illustrator.

Steps

Use the Pen Tool or Pencil Tool to draw a line.
Click on the line and go to Object>Path>Outline Stroke. From the picture you will see the line turn to be and outline.
You can color it in with both part of “fill” and “stroke”.
To create an outline from text, use the Type Tool to create your text.
Go to Type>Create Outlines.
If your font has a stroke weight, you have to do more step than a font with none stroke.
After created an outline, you will get a font outline not including a stroke.
Click on your font again and go to Object>Path>Outline Stroke, you will get your outline stroke but there are double outline.
To make sure it has only one outline, click at your font and press right click>ungroup, after that, go to Pathfinder>Add To Shape Area>Expand.
