Deal With Being Tailgated
Tailgated, a situation when a panther is trying to grasp your tail. It may happen to everyone and in many times can be fatal. Here is some instructions helping you to make decisions.

- Check your speed. If you're within limits, then you're right doing, while if you're too slow for the lane you are driving you should pull the car to the right lane, or decide fast for your next step.
- Check in your mirror, identify the hunter. There are three types of tailgaters and you must find out your friend's case.
- You may have to deal with a racer: A shiny sports car or a sport-looking old car,a young driver and loud music usually describe the racer. This is the less dangerous type.
- The second type of driver might be the emergency driver, means some panic-beaten adult trying to catch a plane or to rush to a hospital. Depending on the emergency, there's not a good mood, the driver thinks of other things than driving and his fast driving is not a funny game but a struggle.
- The third case is the drunk racer, the most dangerous, the racer from case one after drug or alcohol use.
- Depending on the opponent's status, decide your movement. In the hurry guy case, stepping very lightly on the brakes give a good hint to the emergency tailgater and is enough to slow him down. In the case of the racers, braking is an offensive move and could drive them to start a war with you.
- Identify their vehicle. If it is equally or more powered than your vehicle, light the flash, showing you pull aside for them to pass. If it is less powered, a good idea is to speed away, gain a good distance, change lane and return to convenient speed. If the same car catches you up tailgating again, then you are at war.
- Call for help. You have a dangerous gambler behind you, who does not quit no matter you pulled aside, so even stopping your car could lead to worse things, like robbery. Call the police describing the car and the behavior, then ask them for instructions without stopping your car until in a safe place and of course do not lead them to your house.
- Try to trap them behind a bus or truck by keeping the same speed of the big vehicle. In a crowded motorway, try letting other cars between yours and the tailgater's so they might lose you, then change lanes to be as far as possible.
- If the tailgater is still at your back, following all your movements playing cat and mouse, prepare yourself for a collision, light the alarm sign then hit the brake instantly but enough to make the other one brake too. Repeat fast, so that you are about to stop, then stop at a rest space. Of course if they pass, take time to calm down then report to the police by phone and save somebody's life. If they stop behind you and seem to step down for fighting, the only trick that can help is to pretend to step down by opening the door, then:
- Only in the case you understand that tailgating was a trick to make you stop for robbing you and your life is in danger, continuing from step seven, close the door and spin your wheels in reverse so that you hit their car, causing the airbags to open and probably hit the radiator so they will be unable to follow you. Even in court they couldn't prove that you hit them by reversing and this behavior is an effort to defend your life. The target of course is to immobilize the vehicle, not harm the people, even if they have already tried to commit homicide.
Tips
- The better way to win a war is to step back from any battle you're about to be defeated.
- You should never drive on fast lanes when your car is unable to keep a normal speed, or even if you have a good car but you are tired.
- Always keep in mind that playing games behind a wheel may also harm other drivers and not only the one that tries to play the racer with you.
- Try to avoid drunk drivers by any means, as they act without the sense of danger and without the fear of dying.
- Know your enemy, try to give him a lesson by your acts rather than give him a finger.
