YouTube is one of the most popular places on the internet, and the comment section is one of the most notorious. If you've left some bad comments in the past that you want to get rid of, you can easily delete your old comments. If you run a YouTube channel and need to get rid of comments that are hurting your community, you can delete comments and even ban users.

Understanding Which Comments You Can and Cannot Delete
- Know which comments can be deleted, and which comments cannot.
- You can delete comments that you've made on other people's videos.
- You can delete comments that others have made on your videos.
- You can remove comments that others have made by reporting them. If the comment gets enough votes, it will be removed.
- You cannot delete multiple comments at once.
- You cannot delete comments made before YouTube was bought by Google (October 2006).
Deleting Comments You've Made
- Sign in with the channel that made the comment. In order to be able to delete the comment you left, you will need to be signed in with the channel (user) you used to post it. you can change your active channel by clicking the profile image in the upper-right corner.
- Open the Watch page for the video you left the comment on. This is the only way to find the comments you have posted, as there is no comment search system. You can use the History section to quickly see your recently-viewed videos.
- Click the "All comments" link. This is located above the "Share your thoughts" box. Clicking this link is essential to being able to remove your comment. If you try to delete your comment before clicking this link, your only option will be to "Report spam or abuse".
- Find the comment you want to delete. Scroll down through the list of comments until you find the comment that you made.
- You can only delete your own comments.
- Click the small triangle on the right side of the comment. The button will only appear when you hover your mouse cursor over the comment.
- Click "Remove". Click the "Remove" button in the box that appears to confirm the deletion. Your comment will be permanently deleted. Any replies to the comment will be deleted as well.
- Ensure that you are logged in with the correct channel if you don't see the "Remove" option. If you don't have access to your old channel, you can try recovering your Google account.
Deleting Comments On Your Videos
- Find the comment you want to remove. Bad comments can bring down the discussion for your uploaded videos. Remove comments that are distracting other viewers, or are overtly offensive. Moderating your videos will help foster a community of viewers.
- You can browse for comments on your video's page, or you can use the Comments manager in the Creator Studio. Visit youtube.com/comments while logged in as your channel to manage comments on your videos.
- Click the small triangle on the right side of the comment. The button will only appear when you hover your mouse cursor over the comment.
- Remove the comment. Click "Remove" to remove the comment from your video. You can click the "Undo" button if you accidentally removed the wrong comment.
- Report a user. If there is a user on your channel that is harassing others or linking to illegal content, you can report that person from the same menu that you would use to delete a comment. Select "Report spam or abuse" and then choose the option that best matches the bad behavior.
- Ban a user. If you're sick of a user causing trouble for your channel, you can ban that person from the same menu. Select "Ban from channel". All comments from that user will be hidden automatically.
- Log out and log back in if you don't see the "Remove" option. Sometimes you may not see the full menu when you click the arrow next to the comment you want to remove. Logging out and in usually fixes this issue.
- Click your profile image in the upper-right corner.
- Click the "Sign out" button.
- Sign back in with your Google account.
Marking Other People's Comments as Spam
- Find the comment you want to remove. You can remove other people's comments on any video if you feel like the comment is spam, harassment, or illegal.
- Click the small triangle on the right side of the comment. The button will only appear when you hover your mouse cursor over the comment.
- Select "Report Spam or Abuse".
- Select "Unwanted commercial content or spam". There are other options to choose from depending what the comment is about.
- Click "Continue". The post and user will be reported, and if the comment gets enough votes or violates Google policies, it will be hidden from the comment section for everyone except the original author.
- Undo a report. If you accidentally report someone, you can click the "Undo" button to reverse the report.
- Abusing spam reporting may land your account in trouble.
