Design a Part on Solidworks
Designing a part in Solidworks is a multi-step process. First you must draw the part on paper and then create it on Solidworks using a sketch and function. To assemble you must create more parts and assemble them. Finally you'll make a drawing of it which will be used to make the part or assembly.
Steps
- Draw a rough sketch of the part onto paper. If you know the dimensions the part needs to have, mark them onto this drawing for future reference .
- Start up Solidworks. To make the part, create a sketch of it (see picture). When the sketch is fully defined it appears black.
- Make a body of the sketch. In your case the function used is revolved boss/base, around the central axis.
- Create an assembly of part. To do create another part and assemble them with your part already realized.
- Once all the necessary parts to your assembly are finished, make an assembly of them. Mate the parts together to finish the assembly. In the picture you can see an exploded view of the assembly, this is to separate the parts for better visualization.
- Make a drawing of the assembly and parts. A drawing is basically the guide by which the parts are made.
Tips
- To not have a problem with Solidworks, follow the above process. Before you begin with Solidworks you must reflect and draw your part on paper. It is very important.
Warnings
- When you make your sketch, if there is blue, add dimensions for sketch became black for the sketch cannot move.
- You must be judicious in this work for Solidworks, do not announce a problem
