Steps

  1. After you pour a can of soup into a pot, fill the empty soup can with water and mix it with the soup.
  2. If you are happy with the taste of this mixture, you are done! But if it's too diluted, then read on.
  3. Add any ingredient that will make the soup tastier. Does it need more salt? Pepper? Carrots, celery, or anything else, like bouillon?
  4. Cook the soup.
  5. If you can't finish your "two" cans of soup, refrigerate the rest for later.

Tips

  • If people call you "cheap", just say you are making it taste more homemade.
  • Everything is done according to taste. You can add 1/2, 1 or even 2 or more cans of water. And the same with adding salt, rice, carrots, celery, etc.
  • Consider not adding extra salt, to reduce your salt intake. Most canned soups contains 40% (low-sodium soups provide 20%) of your daily recommended salt intake. If you keep eating soup with very low salt, you will get used to it.
  • Consider adding spices that did not come with the canned soup.
  • If cooking for your children's friends, you may not want them to see your technique. They may make fun.
  • Try this with canned stew.
  • Generally speaking, you should add the extra ingredients according to the type of soup in the can, but you can also experiment. For example, if it is a can of chicken soup, try adding turkey or even beef.
