Dilute Canned Soup
Do you want to make one can of soup into two? Or three? Then keep reading.
Steps
- After you pour a can of soup into a pot, fill the empty soup can with water and mix it with the soup.
- If you are happy with the taste of this mixture, you are done! But if it's too diluted, then read on.
- Add any ingredient that will make the soup tastier. Does it need more salt? Pepper? Carrots, celery, or anything else, like bouillon?
- Cook the soup.
- If you can't finish your "two" cans of soup, refrigerate the rest for later.
Tips
- If people call you "cheap", just say you are making it taste more homemade.
- Everything is done according to taste. You can add 1/2, 1 or even 2 or more cans of water. And the same with adding salt, rice, carrots, celery, etc.
- Consider not adding extra salt, to reduce your salt intake. Most canned soups contains 40% (low-sodium soups provide 20%) of your daily recommended salt intake. If you keep eating soup with very low salt, you will get used to it.
- Consider adding spices that did not come with the canned soup.
- If cooking for your children's friends, you may not want them to see your technique. They may make fun.
- Try this with canned stew.
- Generally speaking, you should add the extra ingredients according to the type of soup in the can, but you can also experiment. For example, if it is a can of chicken soup, try adding turkey or even beef.
