Disable Youmail

YouMail is a visual voicemail enhancement service available for iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry devices that provides email-like web access and enhanced features via their website and device-specific apps. If you have set up the service and would like to disable forwarding your voicemails to YouMail (and revert back to your carrier’s voicemail), you can do so using the following instructions.

Steps

AT&T and T-Mobile users

  1. Open the voicemail app on your device.
  2. Dial ##004# and press [Send]
  3. Set your voicemail speed dial number.
    • If you are an AT&T user, set your voicemail speed dial number to your cell phone number. Your device should now revert back to the default AT&T voicemail.
    • If you are a T-Mobile subscriber, set the voicemail speed dial number to (805) 637-7243. Your device should now revert back to the default T-Mobile voicemail.

Verizon users

  1. Open the voicemail app on your device.
  2. Dial *73 and press [Send].
    • Alternatively, you can dial *710 if the first code doesn’t work.
  3. Set your voicemail speed dial number to *86. Your device should now revert back to the default Verizon voicemail.

Sprint & Nextel users

  1. Open the voicemail app on your device.
  2. Dial *38 and press [Send]. Your device will beep a few times to confirm the process.
    • Alternatively, you can dial *720 if the first code doesn’t work.
  3. If these steps do not work, disable call forwarding by contacting Sprint at 888-211-4727.

Metro PCS users

  1. Open the voicemail app on your device.
  2. Dial *73 and press [Send]. Your device should now revert back to the default Metro PCS voicemail.

US Cellular users

  1. Open the voicemail app on your device.
  2. Dial one of the following numbers and press [Send]. US Cellular utilizes different numbers depending on the area of the customer.
    • "*73"
    • "*760"
    • "*740"
    • "*720"
  3. If you are unable to disable YouMail using any of these access codes, contact US Cellular at 1-888-944-9400.

Tips

  • If none of the instructions above deactivate the service, contact your cellular carrier to remove YouMail from call forwarding.

Warnings

  • Different devices will have varying methods of reprogramming the voicemail speed dial number. If you are unsure of the process on your device, contact your cellular provider for further instructions.
