Do Razor Scooter Tricks

Razor scooters have become popular with riders of all ages. This guide offers many different tricks that you can learn for your razor scooter. Some are basic, while others are more complex and dangerous. Some tricks are very close to skateboard tricks, both in name and execution. This is because a razor scooter is very similar to a skateboard.

Steps

Bunny Hop

This trick is the gateway to all tricks!

  1. Get comfortable jumping up off of your scooter and landing back on it.
  2. When you are comfortable, jump up like you practiced, but pull the scooter up with you.

Around the clock

This is a pretty simple trick mainly for beginners that ride regular.

  1. Rotate 90 clockwise 4 times in a row.
  2. Roll out.
    • This can also be done counter-clockwise, for beginners who ride goofy.

Whiplash

  1. Go very slow.
  2. Do a 'half-bar-spin.' Stick one of your feet in the fork
  3. Tailwhip it. Then hop out and land on the deck.
  4. Practice, practice, practice. It will take a very long time to land one of these.

Deck Grab to Inward Bri

  1. Go as fast as you want off a ramp.
  2. Grab your deck after you pull up as high as you wish.
  3. Throw your deck behind you. Turn your bars outward and throw the deck around in the inward bri rotation and catch in midair.

The Downside Whip

  1. Bunny hop or j-hop to a comfortable height.
  2. Do half of a tailwhip one way while doing a 180 in the other direction.
  3. Land and roll away cleanly.
  4. This trick can be done either on flat ground, or on a ramp or quarter-pipe.

Boardslide

  1. Get speed.
  2. Jump turn 90 degrees.
  3. Land on the rail at an angle. Your front wheel should be on the opposite side where you bunny hopped.
  4. Lean slightly on your bars. Slide to end or last spot you waxed.
  5. Bunny hop off and roll away clean.

Lipslide

  1. Wax up a rail or curb.
  2. Get speed.
  3. Jump turn 90 degrees.
  4. Land on the rail with your back wheel on the opposite side you bunny-hopped on.
  5. Slide to end or last spot you waxed.
  6. Bunny hop off and roll away clean.

Feeble

  1. Wax up a curb.
  2. Get speed.
  3. Jump.
  4. Land on the rail at an angle with your front wheel riding the ledge
  5. Make sure your wheel is facing forward.
  6. Slide to end or last spot you waxed.
  7. Bunny hop off and roll away clean.

Harley

  1. Pull handle bars as high as they can go upwards.
  2. Get a lot of speed on your scooter.
  3. Put both feet at the front of the scooter.
  4. Sit in front of the brake.
  5. Keep hands on handlebars.
  6. Ride for 2 seconds or longer.
  7. Get back up and ride away clean.

Smith

  1. Wax up a curb or rail.
  2. Get speed.
  3. Jump high.
  4. Land on the rail or curb at an angle with your back wheel wheel riding the ledge.
  5. Make sure your wheel is facing forward.
  6. Slide to end or last spot you waxed.
  7. Bunny hop off and roll away clean.

180

  1. Bend your knees.
  2. Jump high.
  3. Turn your body to which ever way you want to go. ( Left [goofy=frontside regular=backside] or Right [goofy=backside regular=frontside]) Make sure you get enough speed and jump high enough. To do a 360, do a complete turn.
  4. Turn your legs to which ever way. Be careful not to fall.

Bronco

  1. Get on your scooter and wheelie.
  2. Bunny hop in the air while the front wheel's up.
  3. Lean forward and roll away.

No Footer

  1. Get some speed.
  2. Put both feet on the deck next to each other, toes facing the front. Alternatively, you can bunny hop normally.
  3. Bunny hop/J-hop flat or off a ramp.
  4. Pull your handle bars up as high as you can while still feeling comfortable.
  5. Kick your feet out as if doing the splits in mid air.
  6. Lower scooter and land.

Broytap

  1. Gain considerable speed.
  2. Do a 180.
  3. Land on the nose. Do not let the back wheel hit the ground here.
  4. Do a 180 out.
  5. Land cleanly.

Briflip

This is almost like a backflip without you on it. When attempting this trick, wear a helmet, as it is very easy for your scooter to hit you on the head.

  1. Get a kicker/launch ramp/quarter pipe and ride at a reasonable speed.
  2. Place your feet near the back of the deck.
  3. J-hop off the ramp (or whatever you have) and push your scooter out and up with your feet.
  4. Turn your handle bars so you're doing a T-up when the scooter is parallel to the sky.
  5. Use your arms to flip the scooter over your shoulder and back around to your feet.
  6. Land and roll away.

Power Slide

  1. Find a good surface like smooth concrete or marble or a surface such as the inside of a parking garage. You can also find a small ledge but make sure you can bunny hop into pogo that high.
  2. Ride normally up to a ledge or on the surface you found. The more speed the better, but make sure its not to much or you will flip onto your back if you manual.
  3. Bunny hop when you get close. Do not hop over the ledge or surface.
  4. Slip your foot into a pogo position while in the air. As you land, pull back into a manual but keep your foot slammed on the brake. If you find a good surface you will start to slide. However, if you don't land it the first time it doesn't mean that it's a bad surface. if you feel it slide the slightest bit keep at it.

Blender

  1. Do a 180.
  2. Do a really quick tailwhip.
  3. Land and roll away clearly.

Laydown

  1. Get decent speed.
  2. Lean left or right.
  3. Push handle bars the opposite way in which you are leaning.
  4. Bend your knees to lay the scooter down as far as you can go.
  5. Get back up and roll away.

One Footer One Hander Air Push

  1. Get speed up to a ramp or quarter pipe.
  2. Put one foot back towards the way you came and one hand straight back.
  3. Make the straight.
  4. Hold for 3 seconds.
  5. Land and roll away smoothly.

Bert Slide

  1. Start low.
  2. Put your back foot on the brake.
  3. Brake.
  4. Spin the scooter around by throwing your body to the left.
  5. Make sure the front wheel does not leave the ground.

Heel hop

  1. Stop completely.
  2. Put and hold down your foot on the brake.
  3. Start hopping on one foot (foot on scooter).

T-Up

  1. Get some speed.
  2. Go up a quarter pipe or some kind of ramp or a fun box.
  3. Plant one leg on the flat part of the top of the ramp.
  4. Stick your leg out that is on the razor parallel to the ground.
  5. Jump down from the quarter pipe with the foot that isn't on the razor and roll cleanly away.

Kick Out

  1. Get decent speed and bunny hop.
  2. Swing base of scooter 45-90 degrees with both feet.
  3. Pull back and land smoothly

No Hands (Real)

  1. Get slow speed.
  2. Keep your balance.
  3. Let go of the bars when you are going really slow.
  4. Use feet to balance scooter

Hang 5

  1. Get a fast speed.
  2. Put your strong foot where you're comfortable.
  3. Push forward (not to hard and not too soft).
  4. Balance the scooter with other foot, do for as long as you can.

Boneless Tailwhip

Follow these steps to do a 180 flip as well. However, to accomplish a 180 flip, only do half of a tailwhip and fakie for a while. Then bunnyhop 180.

  1. Get some speed.
  2. Bunny hop.
  3. Kick the scooter like a tailwhip.
  4. Put one foot down while deck spinning.
  5. Jump back on scooter when it comes around.
  6. Land and roll away cleanly.

Air Chair

  1. Get fast speed.
  2. Get air; when in the air, sit down.
  3. Land cleanly.

Turndown

  1. Get lots of speed.
  2. Bunnyhop.
  3. Turn your deck (with feet) 90-180 degrees one way.
  4. X-up the other way.

Pogo Pivot 180

  1. Get speed.
  2. Slightly tap brakes.
  3. Do a wheelie. Keep foot on brakes all the way and spin back tire stays down.
  4. Land ride away cleanly.

Foot-Stall Whip

  1. Get speed.
  2. Do a foot stall. Push foot on ground then take off by pushing up and then you will have air.
  3. Tailwhip or Oppo/Heel Whip.
  4. Land Smoothly.
  5. Roll away.

Decade

  1. Ride forward in a steady pace.
  2. Put you hands close together on the handlebars.
  3. Jump in a 360 around the handlebars.
  4. Land smoothly as possible and ride away.

Inward

  1. Get speed.
  2. Go up a kicker/jump.
  3. Turn your handle bars outwards.
  4. Push your scooter backwards.
  5. Do opposite of what you would do in a bri flip.
  6. Land on the deck and ride away.

Scooter Stand

  1. Come to a complete stop.
  2. Put both of your feet on the scooter so that they are in a right angle with the handle bars.
  3. Take both of your hands off. Balance for as long as you can.

Eagle

  1. Get moving at a comfortable pace.
  2. Let go of the handlebars. Hold for 5 seconds.
  3. Put hands back onto handles and ride away.

Front to Back

  1. Do a nose manual.
  2. Tailwhip into a wheelie.
  3. Bunnyhop out of the wheelie.
  4. Land and ride away

Pogo-Whip

  1. Put your foot on the brake and pogo about 3 times.
  2. Jump really high and whip the deck around while in the air.
  3. Put your feet back on the deck and roll away cleanly.

Around The World

  1. Ride slowly.
  2. Put your foot on the brake.
  3. Spin scooter 360 degrees around body while you stay standing on the brake (not moving).
  4. Land on deck and roll away.

Tuck No-Hander

  1. Ride at a fast speed toward a ramp or quarter pipe,
  2. Hop at the highest point of the ramp
  3. Bend your knees and place the handle bars on you thighs once you are in the air. Release your hands and extend them as far out as you can to the side. (If your arms are behind you, it's called a suicide; if they're under your handle bars, it's called an under-bar.)
  4. Place hands back onto bars and straighten legs out.
  5. Ride away clean.

Air Walk

This trick can be incorporated into many other tricks.

  1. Jump or J-hop as high as possible.
  2. Flare your legs each to one side.
  3. Bring your feet back to the deck of the scooter.
  4. Land and roll away.

Truck Driver

  1. Ride at a moderate speed up to a ramp or flat ground.
  2. Hop at the highest point of the ramp.
  3. Do a barspin and a 360 in the same air time.
  4. Grab the bar with your other hand in the end of spinning the bars.
  5. Ride away smoothly.

Tail Whip

  1. Ride at a comfortable speed.
  2. Jump about one foot in the air and flick your feet behind you.
  3. Rotate your hands in a 360 motion to flick the deck back to your feet.
  4. Land with your knees bent to absorb the impact when landing.
  5. Roll away with ease.

360

  1. Ride at a comfortable speed.
  2. Bunnyhop in the air (you will need a lot of air).
  3. Hold onto your scooter and spin your body with the scooter.
  4. Land with your knees bent to absorb the impact.
  5. Roll away. Consider trying it on a ramp.

Backflip

  1. Be aware that this trick can cause injury or death, so practice in a foam pit or resi until you are sure that you can land it.
  2. Find a box or halfpipe with a decent amount of landing space.
  3. Get to a high speed.
  4. Wait until you get to the top of the ramp and pull back, lifting your body with you.
  5. Commit to the jump and pull yourself back around.
  6. Land and bend your knees to avoid the shock of landing.

Disaster

This is an intermediate trick for scooters confident with quarter pipes.

  1. Gain speed first.
  2. Hop up a quarter pipe, then 180 and land on the coping.
  3. Lean forward, back into the quarter pipe.



Warnings

  • Always wear a helmet when attempting tricks.
  • Also make sure you have a proper scooter for doing tricks on not a cruiser scooter.
  • Be sure not to try something stupid, dangerous, or impossible for your level, unless you know what you're doing and you're very skilled. Use your common sense!
  • Remember to have a strong scooter. Preferably a TSI, Madd, Lucky, Phoenix pro deck, Razor Ultra pro or a black label.
  • Be careful on your landings off ramps. If you land wrong, you can get severely injured.
  • You might also want to wear shin pads if you have them. When you whip the scooter around it might swing into your shin and bruise it or possibly cut it.
  • 180s take skill be careful
  • Knee pads and elbow pads are also recommended. You can never be too safe!
