Do the Salt and Ice Challenge

Have you watched YouTube videos and seen people doing the salt and ice challenge? The salt and ice challenge is where you place salt on any part of your body, usually your arm, and you place an ice cube over it and see how long you can go. Read this article, and before you try the salt and ice challenge for yourself, check out the notes on how dangerous it can be. A number of people have had frostbite which resulted in permanent scarring.

Steps

  1. Gather your materials. You will need ice cubes (if you are trying it more than once), salt, an open space, and a timer.
  2. Take out your salt and hold out the part you are trying it on. Sprinkle a little salt on that place.
  3. Take an ice cube and place it over the salt, then immediately start timing yourself.
  4. Allow time to go by. You will begin to feel a burning sensation. This is because the salt is melting the ice, and since the ice is really cold, it is burning your skin.
  5. Remove the ice cube and check how much time has passed when it becomes too painful for you.

Tips

  • Don't take this challenge to extremes.
  • Use acid salt for a better effect.

Warnings

  • Be aware that this could leave you with permanent scars if you take it too far.
  • This hurts a lot, so if you have a low pain tolerance, re-think attempting this.
  • This is a very extreme and dangerous challenge, so if you have any doubts, DON'T DO IT!
  • Always have someone supervising you.
  • Don't use too much salt or the ice will reach an extremely low temperature and could leave you with serious burns.
