Download and Install Mozilla Firefox Automatically

As the Mozilla Firefox browser continues to become more popular, increasing numbers of users are making the switch. For a hassle-free experience, you can use a free script to automatically download and install the software with a minimum of fuss.

Steps

  1. Download and run a batch file to Firefox download and installation.
  2. Follow the instructions, entering your e-mail address when prompted. This is required to access the FTP server, and it is not shared with anyone else. You will not receive mail.
  3. Hit any key when prompted to do so, until the script is finished.
  4. Enjoy Firefox!

Tips

  • The script uses text-based commands to access Mozilla's FTP servers, download the installation package, perform an automatic unattended installation, and run the program. With nothing more than a few taps at the keyboard, Firefox will soon be up and running on your PC.
  • If you want multiple users to be able to install Firefox easily over a network, just place mozilla.bat in a shared directory and run it on each computer.

Warnings

  • This script will work in Windows XP systems with standard configurations. So far, it has not been tested on other versions of Windows. This script cannot damage any computer. However, if you are running a version of Windows other than XP (or you have heavily customized your XP configuration), it may fail to download or install the program. If the script fails, please report the issue on this article's talk page.
  • If you are on a dial-up connection, the download may require quite a while (like all medium-size or bigger downloads). If you close the DOS window before the download completes, the program will not be installed.
