Steps
Cartoon Flames
- Create a graphic mountain-like drawing with a few peaks.
- Repeat a second line of mountains below that.
- And again a third line.
- Extend regular peaks of steep edges from the topmost base.
- Draw flowing lines and curves to complete the flames on the basis of the guides.
- Erase all guidelines.
- Color the flames.
Simple Flames
- Create three peaks of a mountain with straight lines.
- Repeat a second line below that.
- Repeat it for the third time below the above made.
- Overlap the mountain-like lines with isosceles triangles.
- Draw the flames in detail with necessary curves based on the above guides.
- Erase all the guides.
- Color the flames.
Tips
- Don't try too hard as it will only make it more complicated. It can be simple, but you're in control of that.
- Don't be fooled by people saying that you need art pencils to do good drawings, it's a load of rubbish. It's about the artist not the pencils. If you gave a baby some art pencils he wouldn't give you back a piece of work in Picasso standards.
- Be sure to add the extra sparks around the fire, it really makes the fire look ten times better.
- For more realism, create a smoke effect at the bottom of your flames.
