Draw Pikachu

Let's draw Ash's best friend and long-time partner in his Pokémon battles: the cute and electrifying Pikachu! Pikachu is the most popular Pokémon because he is the central character in the famous Pokémon series. Other than that, he’s simply the cutest! Learn how to draw Pikachu with these easy steps. Steps

Excited Pikachu

  1. Draw the outline sketches for the head and the face.
  2. Add the actual lines for the head.
  3. Add the outline sketches for the body, hands, feet and tail.
  4. Draw the actual lines for the full body and remove the unnecessary lines.
  5. Fill in the basic colors.
  6. Add the shadows.

Sitting Pikachu

  1. Draw a circle. This is the initial outline sketch for the head.It's easier with a compass.
  2. Add another oval that is intersecting with the first circle. This is for the lower part of the head.
  3. Draw the outlines for the facial features and the actual lines of the forehead and cheeks.
  4. Add the bunny ears. Pikachu is not a bunny at all. But his character design shows the bunny-like ears so we’ll keep it that way.
  5. Add the facial features. Two perfect circles for the eyes, an oval spot for the nose and two downward curved lines linked on each other ends for the mouth.
  6. Add more detail by drawing ovals on his cheeks and rub out the extra lines.
  7. Draw the outline sketches for the body. Draw a circle on the chest part and a tooth-like shape on the body as a whole.
  8. Continue with the actual lines of the upper part of the body.
  9. Draw the actual lines of the feet.
  10. Add the outline sketches of the hands.
  11. Draw the tail. Pikachu’s tail looks like a lightning bolt with a spiked line on the tip which indicates the furry surface, anime style.
  12. Add more details to complete the actual lines and erase the unnecessary lines.
  13. Fill in the basic colors.
  14. Add the shadows.

Excited Pikachu No. 2

  1. Create two circles for the head and the body.
  2. Draw out other guidelines like the face, the ears, the hands with circles and lines. Also create ovals for the feet and a zig-zag line for the tail.
  3. Start drawing out the Pokémon figure with small fingers and larger toes.
  4. Draw other details like the eyes, the nose, the mouth and the tail.
  5. Start coloring the drawing with the base colour.
  6. Complete coloring the Pokémon character.

Pikachu Jumping

  1. Create two circles for the head and body.
  2. Draw out more guidelines for the character with guidelines for the face, the hands and feet, and the tail.
  3. Start drawing out the character with darker lines, beginning with the ears and face.
  4. Draw out the entire character using the guidelines.
  5. Erase the guidelines and color the drawing in the base color.
  6. Add some shading to the character.
  7. Complete coloring the character.

Tips

  • Draw lightly in pencil so that you can easily rub out mistakes.
  • If you want to use markers/watercolors to color your drawing, use paper that is relatively thick and line over your pencil more darkly before doing so.
