Draw a Diamond
The diamond is a fairly basic shape when it's two-dimensional but making it appear reflective and realistic as a three dimensional gemstone requires practice. The trick is in knowing how to place the lines to create the cut angles seen on a real diamond, as well as adding a sparkle to suggest that the diamond is glinting in the light.

Steps
Starting with a Flat Trapezoid
- Draw a flat trapezoid for the crown. Below that, connect an inverted triangle.
- Sketch triangles as shown. Make sure that both sides are even.
- Outline our diamond and erase guidelines.
- Color it. Add in shadows and highlights to give it a shine and you're done!
Starting with a Seven-Sided Shape
- Start by drawing a shape that has 7 sides, then make the bottom right corner sharp and defined, as shown in the illustration.
- Draw a series of triangular shapes for the diamond’s upper part. Start by creating a pentagon in the middle and then work your way through its sides by creating different kinds of triangles.
- To finish the bottom portion, just occupy the space left with four triangles.
- Add a sparkle to your drawn diamond. To make a sparkle, start by drawing 2 circles on top of each other and then a four cornered star.
- Outline your drawing. Outline by creating thick lines on your drawing or by using a black pen or marker.
- You can now color your diamond! Use different variations of gray and then color your sparkle white.
- You can also use other colors such as green to make it into an emerald or blue to make it into a sapphire and so forth.
