Draw a Park Bench

Add extra interest to park scenes using this tutorial, which uses simple perspective to draw a convincing park bench.

Steps

  1. Use a ruler to draw some perspective guidelines in pencil, coming from the same vanishing point.
  2. Sketch in a very basic bench shape – a box with the back attached, using the guidelines.
  3. Change the shape of the seat and back to add a curve. Star to draw in the curved shapes of the iron armrests and legs on the ends.
  4. Sketch some pattern detail into the iron ends, and draw in the planks. Draw in a reference line near each end for placement of screws.
  5. Go over the patterned ends with a dark pen or marker, filling them in. Leave some white lines to indicate edges. Go over the sketched planks as well, remembering that they're 3-dimensional too, so their sides will be visible. Erase your guidelines and you're done!
  6. Finished.

Tips
