  • If you do not see an icon below the 'Subject:' line, repeat steps five through eleven. If the icon still does not appear, contact the technical support unit for your email program.
  • If you do not see a 'Paperclip' on your Use the wikiHow Editor's Toolbar then look for 'Insert' on the toolbar at the very top of your email. Left click 'Insert' and look for 'File' in the drop down. Left click 'File' and proceed as directed above.
  • You will usually find a link to technical support in 'Help'.

Warnings

  • Although Outlook can encourage this behaviour, it is bad practise to embed files into messages[1].
  • Please, contact your program manufacturer and/or ISP for further information on their service limitations.
  • There are numerous email programs available. You may find some differences between your program and these instructions.
  • Most email programs and/or internet service providers (ISP's) have a limit on how much information can be sent in a single email. In most cases, it is one megabyte (1MB).
  • Do not confuse "amount of information" with "number of files". A single 1MB file is the same as ten 100KB files.
