Embed a YouTube Video in a Blogger Blog

YouTube offers you the ability to embed many of its videos on your blog on Blogger (also referred to as Blogspot). Videos can be a great way to enhance your blog posts with new content to entertain and engage your readers. You can embed videos in your blog either from the Blogger website, or share via YouTube. Sharing from YouTube is often the more reliable method.

Steps

Embedding a Video from YouTube

  1. Search the video on YouTube. Click on the search box and enter the name of the video that you wish to share on your Blogger post.
  2. Select a video from your YouTube channel. In case you wish to share a personal video, go to “My Channel” and click on it.
  3. Share your video. Click the “Share” button, which you can find just below the video title. This will give you the link to the video URL, also offering you multiple sharing options.
  4. Click on the Blogger icon. Your video will then automatically be displayed in your blog post.
  5. Embed video directly into your post. Click on the “Embed” tab, which you will find next to the “Share” button. Then copy the code onto your post.
  6. Publish your post. Click "Publish" on the top right hand side of the screen. This will take your post live.

Embedding a YouTube Video via Blogger

  1. Login to your account on Blogger. This will bring up a list of your blogs.
  2. Edit or add a new post. Click on the pencil icon, which you can find just next to your blog name.
  3. Add video to a previously published post. In case you wish to add a video to an already published post, view the post list (click the icon next to the pencil icon) and select your post.
  4. Insert your video. Click “Insert a video”, which you can find on the top of the screen. This will bring up a popup box, giving you options to choose your video source.
  5. Choose your video from YouTube. Clicking “From YouTube” will let you search your desired video. Clicking “My YouTube Videos” will bring up a list of videos listed on your personal channel.
  6. Publish your post. Click "Publish" on the top right hand side of the screen. This will take your post live.


Tips

  • Ensure that the width of the video fits into your blog.
  • Check the video before adding it to your blog.
  • Use the Layout tool in your Blogger dashboard to adjust video size settings.
  • Make sure that the share settings of your YouTube video allows all viewers to watch your video.
