Find Out Why You Were Suspended on Xbox Live
There are two types of suspension for Xbox Live: one is for violation of code of conduct, and the other one is a problem with your payment option. Keep reading for instructions on getting things sorted so you can get your account running again.
Steps
- Error messages. If your account has been suspended, you may see one of these messages when you sign in to Xbox Live:
- "Your account has been suspended due to a problem with your payment option."
- "This console has been banned for violations of the Terms of Use."
- Verify that the credit card you use for your Xbox account is valid and up-to-date. Your account might have been suspended because of an outstanding balance.
- Call Xbox Customer Support for an explanation of your suspension and how to get it lifted.
- Check your inbox for an email from Xbox regarding your suspension.
- Visit the Xbox support forums. In the "My LIVE account was suspended" section you can describe your issue and receive a response from an Xbox representative.
Tips
- When stating your issue on the forums do not lie about your situation, the enforcement officers know what you did wrong.
- When contacting Customer Support, have your credentials ready so the Tech Support rep can assist you quickly and transfer you to the Billing Department if they need to.
- Using discretion when choosing a Gamer Tag can help you avoid suspension. Read the Xbox Live Code of Conduct for more information on actions that could lead to suspension.
- Make sure your console is connected to the Internet just in case you and the Tech Support will need to access Xbox Live.
