Steps
- Stop your car at a good location, such as your driveway. Shut the car off so that you do not receive any shocks or shorten any circuits while doing this.
- Locate the fuse box. This should be to the left of the steering column, and under the instrument panel.
- Unplug the signal flasher from where it plugs in on the fuse box. Then, using another car (if you have one), drive to a shop that sells car parts, and buy a new signal flasher.
- An electrical signal flasher is recommended as they work much better than the old fashion ones.
- Plug the new signal flasher into where the old signal flasher was. This is difficult to get to, but the video should help you on locating where the signal flasher plugs in.
- Start your car up again, and check to see if both of the turn signal lights blink at the correct speed. If they do, then you have successfully fixed the turn signal lights on your car.
Tips
- Knowing where to plug the signal flasher into is key.
- The old signal flasher can be thrown away.
Warnings
- Leaving the car running while doing this can lead to shocks, and possibly shortening a circuit or two, which is why you are asked to shut your car off in the first step. It may be advisable to keep the car running for the video, but it is not recommended per this warning.
- Getting to the fuse box may require taking something off on your car, so be sure that you know what you are doing while doing this.
- Your car may not be a pickup truck like the one in the video, so doing this on your car may not be the same as the pickup truck in the video.
