Fold a Towel Dog

Made from one bath and one hand towel, "Fido" is quite well house trained and will give your guests a warm and fuzzy welcome. Cruise lines and B&B Motels use these to make their guest's stay memorable.

Steps

Preparing the Towel

  1. Lay the bath towel flat.
  2. Roll the ends to the center.

Folding the Towel

  1. Bend one roll to lay over the other as shown. Set aside.
  2. Lay hand towel flat.
  3. Fold it in half.
  4. Fold the 'open' end toward the 'fold' end approximately 2/3rds or 3/4ths of the way, leaving 2 inches (5cm) uncovered.
  5. Tuck the folded edge under.
  6. Hold the corner, pull it up and toward the center.
  7. Repeat for opposite end.
  8. Roll ends to middle.
  9. Pull the front flaps down.
  10. Right flap tucked under, left flap still waiting to be tucked in, forming the "forehead".
  11. Place "head" on "body". Display proudly!

Tips

  • Roll the towel tightly. Then the dog won't fall apart as easy. Have someone hold the other end or put something heavy on the side you are not rolling.
  • Use an extra plush towel for the dog's body; thinner towels don't work as well.
  • Try hard to use your imagination to see a dog, because the finished product does not actually look anything like a dog.

Things You'll Need

  • A bath towel
  • A hand towel (matching, preferably)
