Get Ready for That Special Prom Night
Every girl wants to have a great prom night and everyone can, with a little preparation. You definitely don't need to have a date either! It's just as good an evening to spend with your friends having great fun; and you can always find a guy to dance with later in the evening. Remember, confidence is key.
Steps
- Plan it as early as possible - or you may not be able to do what you want. Plan the color you will wear and the accessories and makeup to go with it (a matching purse, shoes, etc.). Arrange for everything in advance (dress, shoes, hair appointment, etc.), because many schools have their proms on the same night, and things get snatched up by enterprising girls.
- Make a checklist of whatever necessities you may want to take to the prom.
- Decide on your hair style. Most girls will want to get their hair done for prom. Get your hair done by a specialist, a friend, or a family member if you can. Some girls are great with their own hair too. Just make sure you are happy with it. If you do get your hair done, consult your stylist a day before to find out when you should wash your hair.
- If someone will be doing your hair, inform them of your schedule before so they know if you have to be somewhere at a certain time (makeup appointment, nail appointment, etc.)
- Do your makeup. Many girls like to get their makeup done at a local department store or salon. If you have the time and money, definitely do this because it is worth it. Even if your hair falls, your face will look flawless.
- Return home and get your dress and shoes on! Pack a purse as well with breath mints, lip gloss, student id if you need one, and fashion tape in case you have any mishaps.
- Take pictures! This is a special night you will want to remember. Smile and remember you're gorgeous.
Tips
- If you have shoes you want to wear, bring them with you when you try on dresses.
- Remember to "break in" new heels if you want to wear them for prom. If you don't, you might be in pain during your special night.
- Wear a button-down top for your hair and makeup preparations. You won't be able to take it off over your head without smudging your (possibly very expensive) makeup or possibly ruining your hairdo.
- For any outing you'll feel best if you're confident in your image.
- Don't overdo the makeup or accessories.
- For the dress: Find what body shape you have. If you have a larger hip area and a small bust, go for a low "V" neck top and a loose bottom area so you look thinner. If you have larger breasts, go for a semi-high "U" neck so people can see your breasts. Go for a tight fit around the waist if you have an hourglass figure, find a long tight dress which shows off your figure.
